What Does a Mortgage
Broker Do?

Lez Stress, our sloth mascot, holding a newspaper.

A mortgage broker specialises in providing advice on the type of finance options available when it comes to buying a property.

They will complete a fact-finding exercise to gather the necessary information on the client to gain an understanding of their unique circumstances, before using their knowledge on a range of lenders criteria to find and recommend the most suitable product that is available.

The process involves completing an affordability assessment as well as taking into consideration a host of different aspects that help determine which products are available to the client along with their preferences and needs.

Brokers not only advise on the financing of the property purchase, they can help with renewals on existing mortgages and insurances that are recommended in relation to taking a mortgage.

Things such as visa status, complex income, adverse credit and non-standard construction can make getting a mortgage more difficult, but your mortgage broker’s role is to simplify this using their knowledge and expertise to put you in the best position to be accepted, helping to make make the process Less Stressful.
